An atmosphere of romance
Valentine’s Day. One of those days where you can feel the love and romance in the air. Once a year when a boy can gather up the courage to ask the girl he likes and ask her out. Love is all around in Rustenburg. Valentines fever. Red balloons and hearts fill spaces. And of course there is the anticipation of receiving a rose from a secret admirer.
We went to a few high schools to see what this day has in store. And did we get it. Red balloons, hearts everywhere, roses and chocolates and most of the student wearing red. With the valentine’s dances being prepared the atmosphere is almost tangible. “I think Valentine’s Day is really cool. Roses, sweets and other gifts are shared. People are cheerful and excited. It is just such a nice day” says Meghn Otto, a grade 11 student from Rustenburg High School.
Here are a few messages from those who were brave enough to state them for someone special: “Mark le Roux, I am simply crazy about you” from a secret admirer. Another secret admirer wanted to tell Jaco Nortjè “Even though we are not in the same school, I still love you and think of you every moment! Have a great V-day”. Ansie Brough wanted to tell Fredie Pieterse “You are amazing”. Nicky van Wyk wanted to tell Zian Roos “I am really thankful that you are in my life! You are the most amazing person I know. Everything you do is simply amazing and I really know you love me. I love you to infinity and beyond!”.
Of course Valentine’s Day is not for everyone, but we have to admit that there is something sweet about this day. If you did not tell that special person in your life that you love them, what is keeping you? We here at Rusties want to tell all our readers, Happy Valentine’s Day!
