Tlhabane police are searching for ATM bombers
Tlhabane Police have launched a massive manhunt for 10 suspects who are thought to be responsible for two Absa Automated teller machines (ATM) that were bombed at Tlhabane Township outside Rustenburg, in the early hours of the morning, 1 May 2013 at about 02:00. It is allegedly that the two ATMs bombed are next to the Caltex garage and there was an armed security officer who was on duty in the garage when the incident occurred.
According to allegations the suspects were using a blue unlicensed BMW during the robbery, one suspect approached the security guard and pointed him with the firearm and instructed him to lie down. It is alleged that the suspect also demanded the firearm belonging to the security guard. The security guard heard two explosions and the suspects fled the scene with the undisclosed amount of money. Allegations further states that the suspect took the Pretoria or the Johannesburg road.
