Review: Man of steel
Man of steel is the latest Superman reboot. A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
The movie certainly did create extreme hype with previews and trailers, but did it manage to deliver? In a sense yes but also, no. As far as storyline goes this reboot tells the story of Krypton, a alien planet far away from earth. The planet faces a apocalypse and Clark Kent (Superman), or Kal-El as he is known on his home planet, is sent to earth by his parents. The story continues as Clark struggles to fit in on earth, until a enemy from his home world shows up and threatens to destroy earth.
The movie was full of thrills and had quite a few great fighting scenes, perhaps a bit too much of them. Some scenes felt quite generic and reminded me about the Matrix trilogy. It also somewhat lacked an emotional component.

Although I expected more from this reboot, it was a decent movie, worth of the watch. Fans of the original comic series might feel that the movie does not bring all the components of the original storyline. I would recommend man of steel to audiences that love superhero movies. Man of steel gets a overall rating of 7/10 from us.
