A launch of great opportunities
On Thursday the 28/02/2013 the Rustenburg Business Woman Forum was proudly launched. Hosted in Ebenhaezer Castle, this event was one to take note of. With guest speakers Sharon Reeds (Founder of Vuka Mentorship programme) and Jackie Kola (Director of the local economic development department from the Rustenburg Municipality).
According to Sharon Reeds “440 000 small businesses closed sown during the last five years. This reduced the economy’s job creating potential by 2.3 million. Small businesses contribute 42% of the the Gross domestic product”. She also stated that many people start their own business out of desperation. They do not research the market or whether the product will sell before hand. The result is that they do not make it in the business world. “Make sure that you understand and research the market, type of business, product and selling skills you need before you start a business”. Be sure what you are getting yourself in to. In order to be successful you should do proper research and work smarter, not harder. Have a strategy.
Afterwards there was a question and answer session. Detailed answers were given to all questions and it was clear that the speakers came well prepared. Old Mutual also sponsored prizes that was given to lucky winners from a business card draw.
The dream of head organiser and chairman, Sizile Makola, finally manifested with this event (The official launch). The Goal is to promote and improve business women and businesses owned by women while building relationships with other like-minded women. She accomplished a very impressive task of bringing this forum up and running.
It is exciting to see a new cause in Rustenburg, one to strengthen and empower our women to become even more successful in the business world. With excellent networking opportunities, community support and valuable information this forum is sure to be a success. Be sure not to miss the next event.
