Fun in the sun carnival
A carnival is a place for food, entertainment and fun. That is exactly what was expected of this past weekend’s Buffelspoort Carnival, which took place 2nd of March 2013 and the event did not disappoint.
There was not a single dull moment. The stage was constantly occupied by singers, dancers and other forms of entertaining events. There was something to do for the entire family. An amusement park, car show, beer tent and food stalls gave something for everyone’s tastes. The day started off with a fun run early the morning and continued on till late that night. During the day local and guest artists filled the stage with music, creating a great atmosphere for a great time. Dance, Karate, Sword fighting, Judo, Fashion, Antic and Veteran Motor shows all formed part of this day. Freedom Feet Break dancers also made their appearance and gave an encouraging message for all together with their dancing.
One of the highlights was the Mr. and Miss Buffelspoort competition. The contestants all dressed for the occasion and they surely put their best foot forward. Rusties had the opportunity to be one of the judges for this event. Every one that participated was simply amazing. As nightfall came some big names in South African music such as Jay, Nadine, Charlize Berg and Pieter Koen made their appearance.
This day of fun was hosted by the Rustenburg Gemeenskapskerk to raise funds. So not only was it great fun but it also helped to support a good cause. Next year’s carnival simply cannot be missed. Rustenburg needs more festivals like this. It brings people together and gives you a taste of Rustenburg culture.
