SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER
Short Role description:
Responsible for performing system engineering for automation process control projects based on programmable controllers, drives, motor control centres, operator/field device, instrumentation, etc. Works on project assignments in various industrial, manufacturing and mining environments. This includes system design, system engineering, hardware engineering, programming and factory testing. Identifies, analyses and resolves program support deficiencies.
Experience required for Professional Level
Typically, five to eight years’ experience in industrial systems engineering – industrial automation, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, Information Systems.
Proven project portfolio of control system projects – Indicating responsibility level
Sound knowledge of design and implementation of Rockwell control solutions
Receives little to no instruction required on day-to-day work
Takes ownership and responsibility for actions, tasks and projects
Ability to manage various tasks at the same time and effectively manage time to achieve project timelines
Advanced skill with MS Office software products Excel, Access, Word, etc
PLC Programming (Allen-Bradley preferable) – 5-8 Years
SCADA application development (Factory Talk View SE/ME preferable) – 5-8 Years
PLC Code development – Using standardised code structures
SCADA Application Development – Standalone & Network Applications. Template Development (Object-Orientated)
Performs conceptual process control systems design and implementation thereof
Provide on-site process control system start-up and support as required. (Commissioning)
Local and International Travel
Provide verbal and written engineering reports
Visit internal/external panel manufacturing facilities to assess progress, provide technical assistance and for final inspection and sign off.
Core Competencies: PLC & SCADA, Instrumentation, Network, Drives & starters, Fault-finding, supervision of contractors, Commissioning
Builds client relationships
Able to function independently and remotely
Team player with the ability to integrate with other team project members
Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge, industry application knowledge
Excellent English language (verbal and written), Local language skills
