Man Shot During ATM Bombing
Police in Rustenburg are investigating a case of Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) Bombing and Attempted Murder after two ATM’s were blown and severely damaged on Tuesday, 16 July 2013 at about 03:19 at East End, in Rustenburg.
The 42-year old man was allegedly shot through his vehicle in his right upper leg by the suspects as he drove past the two ATM machines which were allegedly targeted by the suspects.
The victim was allegedly leaving the filling station and driving home when he saw a white BMW vehicle with five occupants inside, next to the ATM. He heard several gun shots being fired at his vehicle and felt pain in his right upper leg.
He sped off and stopped at his work place, not far from the shopping complex. Paramedics were summoned to the premises and the victim was rushed to the local hospital for treatment.
Police were summoned to the scene by members of the community, but the suspects had already fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money.
