The following events happened on our Rusties Calendar:
Spinnathon
I had the pleasure of visiting the Spinnathon event. It took place on 12 May at Laerskool Rustenburg. There was lots of laughs and good sportsmanship between the teams that participated in the competition. The teams included companies like Dr. Bezuidenhout, X-Strata Boshoek, ABI, Remax, Larries, E-car, Sunset Ridge Guesthouse, Tombstone Wholesalers and etc.
The team members of each team had to take turns to peddle on the spin cycle, usually for at least 10 minutes. One moment the contestants would be peddling fast and easy and then they would set the cycle to peddle uphill. It was a true test of fitness and endurance during this event. There was also additional entertainment by dancers from few of the Pre-schools in Rustenburg and also some country music.
I would recommend that with the next Spinnathon more Rustenburgers support this great charity event.
Specials
Rusties has the following special on our site:
Review of West Side Story
I recently visited the Lebone 2 College to have a look at their newest stage production, West Side Story. Gareth Dry directed this theatrical production. It was my first visit to Lebone 2 College and i was stunned at their most beautiful campus and well mannered students.
When i walked into the hall I was met with the sight of professionalism of how the production was put together. All the factors were working like a well oiled machine, like lightning, sound, decor, actors/dancers and orchestra. Gareth took the story of the musical and transformed it for the South African context. I found the dialogue and acting extremely funny and entertaining. I would recommend that our readers make a point of going to see the next production of Gareth Dry. Keep an eye on the events of Rusties so that you will know when the next production happens.
Thanks Gareth for a most awesome musical production performed by students of Lebone 2 College. Can’t wait to see what is coming in the future.
