Movie Review: Turbo
From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda comes an original new feature: Turbo. Turbo tells the story of a garden snail that wants to dream bigger than the rest. All the other snails are happy with their ordinary slow paced day to day life, but not Theo. He has bigger dreams and wants to move faster and reach higher goals. When a freak accident happens, Theo, or Turbo becomes a super snail with the ability to move at an extraordinary speed. He embarks on a journey to compete in the world’s fastest race, the Indianapolis 500.
The movie is full of fun and wit and with its original story line it makes for great family entertainment. The characters are very lovable and you almost instantly feel a kind of connection to them. What makes Turbo a great movie to watch is the fact that it is quite original and not like any movie ever produced before.
The graphics and special effects are fantastic but this is no surprise coming from DreamWorks Animation. The voice acting was also really good and believable with the talents of Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Snoop Dog.
Visual and audio effects: 7/10
Storyline: 7/10
Entertainment value: 7/10
Over all Turbo is a nice, innocent story created with the whole family in mind. It is not a perfect animation and not the best animation feature of this year, but it definitely deserves a watch.
