Rustenburg Local Municipality gets ready for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations
With the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa 2013, set to kick off on 19 January, the Rustenburg Local Municipality, in partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), have had a Z-CARD® match schedule produced for football supporters and other community members.
The cards are being distributed via the Rustenburg Local Municipality’s road-show, with the aim of ensuring that every household in Rustenburg has one and is aware of the games taking place at their home stadium.
The Z-CARD® not only sports the full Orange Africa Cup of Nations match schedule, but also a significant message from Cllr Mpho Khunou, the Executive Mayor of the Rustenburg Local Municipality, and offers community members, who have purchased a ticket for any match to be held at the Royal Bafokeng Sport Stadium, the opportunity to win one of several fantastic Samsung prizes.
Arranged by Octagon, the world’s largest sponsorship consulting practice and a pioneer and leader in athlete and personality representation and management, the activation for the Rustenburg Local Municipality will see the Z-CARD®s distributed via taxi ranks, township community hotspots, shopping malls and other community gathering areas.
The road-show will also see Cllr Khunou and some of South Africa’s soccer legends interacting with community members to distribute the Z-CARD® and to generate awareness around the seven Orange Africa Cup of Nations matches to be played in Rustenburg, at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, namely:
22 January – Ivory Coast v.s Togo – 17:00
22 January – Tunisia v.s Algeria – 20:00
26 January – Ivory Coast v.s Tunisia – 17:00
26 January – Algeria v.s Togo – 20:00
29 January – Ethiopia v.s Nigeria – 19:00
30 January – Algeria v.s Ivory Coast – 19:00
3 February – Winner Group B v.s Runner up Group C – 17:00
“The 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations presents Rustenburg with an enviable and mouth-watering opportunity to host our continent’s premier soccer tournament. We look forward to welcoming Africa’s soccer stars, who have promised to dazzle us with their wizardry at the world-class Royal Bafokeng Stadium,” says Cllr Khunou.
“I would thus like to call upon all of the people of Rustenburg, Bojanala and the North West Province to rise to the occasion, inspired by the magnificent performance as a city during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, to deliver the most memorable Africa Cup of Nations. It is time to make it happen, it is time to feel the beat,” he adds.
